It's been a yR~!!

For our one yr ..we headed down to Daylesford for the weekend end ... rented a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere to celebrate ... well .. celebrate.. that we made it to one yr yet again ... well we stayed at 'Cleaver Hill Estate' shown on the right here and came equipped with a rear projector tv ... fire place ...and a huge bathroom with a spa and lcd tv ...

We explored daylesford a bit ..... went to the local lake and took a nice walk around it on the sunny saturday morning ..until mica started complaining that she was tired .. even though we just woke up probably 2hrs ago ... so we went and had lunch at the boat house ... which was yum ..i had the duck risotto ... and mica had soup .. forgot which kinda.. maybe she can tell u ... we also took a trip across town ... when i say across town.. i mean.. that we drove across to the otherside of the main street in daylesford to a look out point .... had to walk up a set of pretty steep spiral steps which caused mica to hit her head as a result of focusing too much on no falling down ...

well mica had a bruised head .. i was feeling a bit light headed from taking a BOILING spa too early in the morning ... so it was perfect timing that it was time for our appointment at daylesford day spa .... OMG ... soooOO relaxing.. first we soaked in a spa for 30mins .. followed by a massage ... then ... a ....i dunno.. some sorta sandy mixture they rubbed all over my body... followed by a body scrub?? ... then a facial .. i dunno wot they were all called... tell them mica .. i cna't remember ... anyway... it was sooooOO good i fell asleep during the facial ... 3hrs overall ... money well spent i reckon ...

Lovely Weather for studying...my ramblings...

Man, my gland is really acting up today... to think, it'll only be with me for another week. Just one week until its surgically removed from my jaw. *shiver*

Anyway, Melbourne has been experiencing such lovely Spring ( about 1 week early) weather, and I along with many of my uni friends have been tempted to just screw the lab reports, the final year project and preparations for the mid-sem tests to just lounge around outside.

BUT, being the diligent student that I am, I've opted instead to sit in the Melbourne Law library and write in this blog while pretending to be studying and listening to Avant.



Speaking of studying, does anyone really understand the "critical issues" of High speed digital systems? What is the difference between open-loop and closed-loop timing ? And when will our lecturer improve on his communication skills, because obviously we're not getting any of this.



Yup. A lot of studying is needed or I might see the same results for dig sys 3. Ah, Uni Sq looks so enticing from this window.

NARUTO CRAZY~!!!

NARUTO HAS TAKEN OVER MY SPARE TIME~!!!!! .... every moment of my weekend... from when i get home from work till i go to sleep .. its NARUTO ... DAMN IT~!!!! why does Sasuke turn evil (.. yes i unfortuntely found out reading his bio on wikipedia) .... Currently up to 76 coz i'm missing the episodes from 76 to 90 ... SOMEONE HELP ME ... oh .. when i say HELP .. i mean supply me with those missing episodes hahahah ...

For those who don't know.. and i doubt there are many out there... Naruto is a anime centered around .. of course 'Naruto' and his pursuit to become a Hokage (the leader and most powerful ninja of the village) ... those who haven't seen it .. OMG its a MUST ... from left to right .. and the characters are pretty predictable .. we have .. 'Sakura' .. the know it all of ninja techniques and history ... the guy on top .. he is their sensei ... 'Kakashi' .. he reads 'Adult' novels as u seen he is reading one right there ... seen him in a couple of battles .. although not against the best .. he is one of the students of a former Hokage .. so he must be up there~!!! .. then there is 'Sasuke' in the blue.. the student with the most talent and ability ... and finally on the right is 'Naruto' .. the boy with the most heart and determination to succeed and of course the one with the most potential .....ahh.. my favourite team of ninja's form TEAM 7 ...

On another note.... i have started a forum for every1 to keep in touch .. since these days every1 seems so busy and we hardly see each other... its the 'Whatsgoinon' forum http://groups.google.com.au/group/whatsgoinon?hl=en ... well it still hasn't really 'kicked off' yet ... but i hope we can all use it to stay in touch and perhaps organize events to get together ... if you need a invite .. just pop me a email at my gmail acc ..

No Work and Teddy's Growth

(Mica's 2nd Post)

It's has been nearly a month since my last post, so it would be a good idea to quickly summarized my recent activities to get everyone up to speed.

23rd July: Uni Sem 2 started

31st July: Went to see Phantom of the Opera

1 Aug: 11 months anniversary and received beautiful flowers from Ed

10 Aug: Last day at my intern placement (coincidentally the last source of income ~>_<~)

13 Aug: First Monday without having to wake up at 7.30 am

I woke up at 7.00 am though as I was back in St Albans and I wanted to catch a lift with Tram on her way to work. This was the start to one of the most relaxing days I have ever known this stress-ridden year. Yes. Not only did I not have to turn up to work, I also had no classes scheduled on Mondays. I could have eaten, slept and watch chinese drama to my heart's content ... although if I did I would not admit it because my project partner might kick my ass.

After spending a few hours down the block in a little area known to many as "Melb Uni" I came back home to enjoy the afternoon sun and the peace and quiet of my apartment. Little did I know that a little bunny though quite grown was enjoying this sun as well.

According to my calculations Teddie (the bunny) is approx 3 months old. She's not longer the cute little fur ball as in our earlier post. Due to the extreme and grueling training program she gives herself she really is a lean mean bunny. As some of you are privy to our home you will know that the obstacle course in her training ground includes laps around the couches, hurdling the coffee table lower beams, leaps onto the tallest posts in the room (again couches) and also my favourite because I always win, a race to my bedroom before I close the door on her. hehe

She carries scars from her physical exertions, although it more like she got too close to the candle and half her whiskers curled up.. hehe. She's funny.

I was shocked to find out during a sunny sunday afternoon that Jennifer Lowry was a reader of this blog ... only to realize that she is only taking her time to regularly check this blog out because she is bored infront of her comp and looks to this site as a last resort for a cheap minute of entertainment ... well jennifer .. enjoy the following summary of my weekend =)



so .... how was my weekend u may ask? .. hmmm i don't think i had one .. first off i turned up at work on saturday .... and wait for it ............ ALSO SUNDAY ... 7 days straight at work .. and if you count this coming week .. i would have work 12 consecutive days ... before you guys jump outta ur seats in disgust towards my devotion to work ... consider this ... ok .. lets get this outta the way first... i don't get extra pay for working on the weekend... wot i do get is time in lieu ... ok .. now here is the good thing... when i turned up on saturday ... i was basically there for an hour because 'Fujistu' .. who maintain our servers .. fucked up the transfer of files to a new server .. so i couldn't complete the upgrades ... so i had to come in on a sunday to complete the upgrade ... which roughly took about 4 hrs ... so .. for these 5hrs (1 + 4 = 5 ... yeah thats right) .. i will get a whole day off work which is usually around 8hrs.... BUT there is a chance since i came in twice over the weekend .. i could possibly get 2 days off .. that 16 hrs off .. for working only 5 ... that sounds good to me =P



anyway enough of work .. highlight of the weekend definately is saturday night's "cook off" (thats how i remember mica describing it) .. cook off? .. ummm to my knowledge we were all cooking together hehe ... anyway.. we made temaki and also suki udon .. which was soooOOO yum (my baby is a awesome cook)... unfortunately the yum-ness maybe was due to the fact that we used 7/8 of the sukiyaki sauce in the bottle to make it ... to break it down .. we used probably like 1/4 of the bottle to marinate the beef and 5/8's to the soup ... so most likely it was 1/8th skill in cooking .... 7/8th's kikkoman power ... think of it this way ... it felt like we used a 7/8th's of a bottle of soy sauce to make a soy chicken dish hahaha ....



RESTAURANT REVIEW:

this friday night ... like so many of the past friday nights took us to ITO cafe on bourke st ... i have to admit that i didn't use to be a big fan of raw food .. but its starting to grow on me .... and it began with the dish gyu tataki ... raw beef and egg .. very nice entree to kick things off ..... and then i had my default dish at ITO .. which is suki udon .. mmmm suki udon ... yup .. can't beat that combination ... although our attempt at it on saturday night came very very close .... oh yeah .. when it came to pay the bill ... the waitress gave us the wrong one .. so mica corrected her ... the thing was that .. the incorrect bill was actually CHEAPER ... aiya mica pham .. ur lucky i love you ...

anyway.. i didn't go all out on dinner coz i was saving my stomach for the "nameit" burger .. yes its taken this long for me to taste it .. and if i had to give it a name ...... i would call it .. "mac awesome" ... yeah ... the burger is pretty good ... tastes like one of those burgers you would get a the fish n chip shop ... so yeah ... hope it stays on the menu .. and no .. i didn't submit my suggestion at http://www.nameitburger.com.au/ because the competition is already closed...DAMN IT~!!! ...

sunday basketball turned out to be more interesting than usual this week ... as baz will go down as the first akblue member to be ejected not just from the game .. but also from the stadium ... hahah ... the best quote from the nite was when baz called the ref a "racist" ... good on ya baz hahaha ... as a consequence of tonights actions .. akblue president edward huynh released the following statement to the press at 11pm:

Edward Huynh: "We(akblue) would like to clarify that the views expressed by barry lim on sunday 12th of august towards the referee do not reflect the opinions or beliefs of akblue as a team or any individual member of akblue. We accept the ejection from the game and will deal with this matter internally. The team will look at options to enrol barry lim to anger management classes, preferably somewhere in the States similar to the drug rehabilitation centers that lindsay lohan and britney spears attended. We have no further comments on the situation. Thank you"

Just kidding baz ... your toughness and energy u bring was missed during the remainder of the game.. but we'll bounce back next week .... =)

Barry Trotter

ok .. maybe i meant Harry Potter ... picture this ... 8:59am on a saturday morning ... hundreds of harry potter wacko's in Border's Melbourne Bookstore waiting in a snake shaped line through the book isles yelling 10 .. 9... 8 ..7 .. 6 ..5 ..4 ... 3... 2... 1 YAY~!!!! YES .. i was yelling that too ... got caught up in the moment of the harry potter countdown ... i think all up i waited 1hr to get my hands on the lastest hp novel ... only to find out from jenny that i could have gotten it for the same price minus the huge line at myer that morning ... BUT .. myer wouldn't have given me a free ballon PLUS an owl soft toy =) ...

Oh yeah .. also finally took barry up on his invite to play pool at his golf club which kinda turned out to be a cookin session where we kinda abused the fact that barry was closing for the night and the last person there .. so we kinda helped ourselfs to the huge fridge to make curry ... chicken parma (yes stav .. a parma) ... chips ... onion rings .. satay sticks etc .. and yeah plus the bar too ... ... OMG .. felt like i was gonna explode since i already had a beautiful dinner made by my lovely gf prior to heading to baz's golf club which is conviently located somewhere in the woods/country .. yes .. it was impossible to find.. baz was try'n to guide me there on the phone while i was driving and when he asked what i see to gauge where i was .. i replied " ummm ... looks like farm land to my left .. and i see 3 huge towers that look like silo's on my right" ... hahah other helpful hints baz gave was like " look for kangaroo crossing signs" haha ....


IKEA buddy Daniel returned home to Vietnam on the same saturday morning ... we had a good bye dinner for him on wednesday at a crown buffet ... hmmm yeah .. the food wasn't great ... but it was fun to catch up wif him before he leaves ... Daniel and I started IKEA at the same time around 2 yrz back ... and we both had a fair share of IKEA forlift accients heheh ... see ya buddy...

In unrelated news .. AKBLUE 2 wins in a row .. heheeh hopefully this will put us in the top 4 haha .. this game marked Cuongs return to the lineup ... and made zero impact with a HUGE AIR BALL on his first shot ....at least we won right ??? haha ...

RESTURANT REVIEW:

friday night dinner took mica and I to Wagamama ... ended up paying $60+ plus for dinner and the gyoza's weren't even half as good as the ones we made ourselves... hmmm i had the chilli ramen (not filling .. but nice soup base) and gyoza's (crap .. as stated above) and mica had the chicken katsu curry (ok ..the chicken wasn't as dried up as other places) and the chilli squid (weren't that great.. i just ate it cos i was still hungry after my food) ... but i think this kinda sums up the place pretty well ... when mica asked for more red pickles for her katsu curry .. we had to pay EXTRA~!!!! ... yes .. very disappointing .. the only thumbs up is that they offered me a membership card when i was paying ... and told me that i get a free meal on my bday... hahaha ..

Arts and Craft (First Post)

Yes, Mica has finally decided to add a post.

I have been so busy with work, project,Teddy (our rabbit) and the Condor Heroes (remake) that I have not had the time to contribute anything so far.

On Saturday, I made what I felt was stupendous progress on my project so I decided to give myself a whole day off on Sunday. After a very long lunch at yumcha, a lot of tea and two toilet trips later I found myself at Lincraft with Ed looking for fabric to make a DIY corkboard.

This was the be all and end all of my arts and craft phenomenon. It was a soft padded board made from 2 pieces of cardboard, sticky-tap, thumb tacks, pins and an array of ribbons and stickers. I pulled, padded, pinned, tacked, taped, measured, cut, stapled and kept my rabbit at bay from chewing on the new cork/cardboard. In fact, Teddy was so excited to watch me at my creative activities that I decided to make her her very own pillow board. Ironically, as soon as she was given her own, she lost all interest in the thing.

It is now Monday night, that evening of carefee thoughts now leaves me with a decorative piece next to my bed, a post subject and not that much time left to sleep.

Hot Spaghetti

arghhh.. do you usually put chilli paste into bolognese sauce??? .. i dunno... but it was soooo hot i was sweating while eating dinner tonight... but you know .. it was YUM~!!!! ... just the right amount of hotness to make it hot but not unbearable that you can't eat it...

its been a week now since the first post ... where has mica gone??? busy reading harry potter.... OH .. watched harry potter on opening night... she thought it wasn't great.. but for me .. since i haven't read the book ... i have no frame of reference but i thought it was ok ... it wasn't as dark i anticipated .... hmmm i shouldn't say anymore.. don't want to ruin it for everyone ..... =)

My Weekend Plus Monday

Friday night started out well ... went out for viet on Victoria St wif mica ... and everything seemed to go downwards from there .... we got home that night after dinner to see Essendon get thrashed by Geelong by 50pts ... damn .. we were only down by 10pts at the end of the 3rd quarter ... how on earth does that happen .. that doesn't even happen to AKBLUE on our worse night ... hahah ... wait .. it gets worse ...

saturday morning plans were to go shoot around at melb uni basketball courts while mica is at pilates ... ok .. so i wake up a lil later than her so she left a couple minutes before me coz she was running late already ... i remember asking her ..."is it dry outside hun?" .. valid question right? .. since its been raining constantly these days (don't get me wrong ... the rain is great~!!! .. water level storages are now at 32.8% .. wooHOO ...) ... anyway.. she replies back .. "yeah .. looks fine to me .." and then she rushed to class .... so i get outta bed and got changed .. packed some stuff in the bag like my ipod .. change of clothes etc...then went to my car to get my bball shoes ... finally .. all ready to go .... stepped out of the apartment and guess wot ........ the street was freaken wet ... so for a brief moment in my mind i was like .. grrrr MICA~!!!!!!!! ... but i thought .. hey ... haven't played in over 2 weeks... i might as well just go and shoot around in the wet so i can pick her up after class ... melb uni isn't far from mica's apartment and soon i was standing on the outdoors courts only to realize .. "FARK ... i didn't bring my bball with me~!!!!!" .. when i went to my car to get my bball shoes that morning.. my bball was RIGHT NEXT TO IT .... hahha oh well ....just one of those days right??? ..WRONG .. it gets worse ...

After doing some grocery shopping at richmond.. i decided to go grab a pork roll for lunch ..yes .. BIG MISTAKE ... turns out pork rolls gives you the runnies ... actually i knew that .. but sometimes you just give in to the taste and value ... well that cost me saturday night.. i basically slept until mica made me dinner and even then i could only have a lil coz of my stomach ... i sat there watching harry potter that night ... just not knowing when i will need to make a quick dash to the toliet .. or even worse.. needing to go but it being occupied ... arghh wot a terrible feeling ... oh wait .. it gets worse ....

Because i was immobilized due to my state of 'i got a stomache ache .. and if i move .. i might trigger some chemical reaction that might send me to the toilet .. so i'm better of sitting here in the fetal position to stop the pain' ... i could not run away when mica, uyen and glen proposed that we play a game of 'couples' 500 (for ppl would don't know.. 500 is a card game .. similar to bridge i think) ... no .. its not that i don't like the game.. but mica and uyen are extremely competitive when it comes to games .. i've seen them both yell at glen for counting cards during a game .. which led to mica storming off to bed ... well one positive was that we won (yay) .. but this resulted in uyen (i think 3 times) telling glen off for betting too aggressively ... hehe ... but .. oh wait .. it gets worse ...

sunday night basketball ... yes one of the things i look forward to the most during the week and we lost by 2 points .. arghhhh ... oh wait i have to say this .. sorry guys for missing the last game, but i rather i spent that day with my gf =P ...

anyway... wot a horrible weekend ...at least on monday .. our long awaited fruit arrived at work .. yes.. we get fruit delievered onsite to us ... YAY .... i'm happy again =)

My Nerd Library

wow ... 6 months on the job and i already have a mini programming library ... 14 textbooks ordered from work .. yes .. turns out graduates don't know sh*t about what technologies are currently being used in industry ...so i gotta study up ... who thought that after all those yrs of school and uni that i'll be still studying and reading textbooks ... anyway... see the book on the right (SCJP) ... that stands for Sun Certified Java Programmer ..... YUP .. i'm going for Sun Certification .... according to my advisor .. i need some street cred .. so i need Java Certification. Oh .. and that bear in the middle .. thats a gift from mica for my graduation ... he guards/reads my books when i'm gone... hence the glasses..

Have you met Ted?

Have you met Ted? ... Yes teddy is our lil bunny .. she is a netherlands dwarf rabbit and she fits in the palm of your hand ... She likes to poop a lot in shoes ... pee on IKEA blankets .. and hide behind the fridge. We are still considering if we should get teddy a friend but she seems happy with our company. Teddy has been through some scary moments already in her life ... meeting Milo my dog was almost life ending as they played the game of 'Prey and Predator' .... while sometimes when she trys to cuddle up between our feet on cold nights, we kick her accidently when we don't realise she is there hehe ... don't worry we love you teddy =)
